I’m a US Navy veteran and a military spouse, now living in Japan. When our orders came, moving our dog turned into its own deployment: Virginia to California, back to Florida when her paperwork expired, then Chicago, Tokyo and finally Fukuoka. We paid for all of it out of pocket, and I picked her up myself at the end.
